I Am Civil Rights

I am from years of injustice, decades of tragedy,
from lack of the truth I was set aside for future years to handle.
I am from the United States Constitution,
where I am written in black ink
for the world to see.
(After so many years, people finally saw.)
I am from the great people who tried and tried again.
Those who were only to be shot down and jailed.
For only trying to stand for what they believe.
I am from everlasting inquisitive and belief
that all people are and forever will be
equal under all law and all standards.
(I can be hope for all.
For all who are open; and all who see.)
I am that which people fought and died for; knowing I belong to them.
Knowing they are truely equal without reasonable doubt.
I am the dream that after years came true.
Through blood, tears, and sweat;
I am now reality. So many years.
Who would have thought?
I am personal liberty, equality, justice.
I am from all these moments-
The dream that all wished for.
The dream, that with hope; came true.
