If I had a penny for every time I was denied
In this life long struggle, I’d feel more alive
No longer would I sit, think, and cry
Wondering how long I have left to survive.

If I had a penny for every time that I cried
and filled the ocean with blue tears of pain.
I’d share my wealth with my family worldwide.
And fill the clouds with copper rain.

If I had a penny for every politician that lied
My friends and family would all thrive
We’d hold our head high and know why
And we would work that much harder to strive

If I had a penny for all those in need
Who looked through blood shot eyes for truth
I’d take down government nepotism like a stampede
Riding the elephant or donkey from the voting booth.

If I had a penny for every uneducated discourse
And recorded every story with swift strokes of my pen
I’d look only to the heavens for recourse
Because the only answer id find is deep within

So If I could get a penny for your thoughts
And put them all in a big collection bag
Maybe this world wouldn't be a complete loss
And all our struggles wouldn’t be so bad
