Lakeside Lovers

Down by the lake
On a warm Summer’s night
Two lovers stand hand in hand
While the moon shines so bright

The boy leans over,
To whisper in her ear,
“There’s nowhere I would rather be
Than with you right now, right here.”

The girl then turns,
And replies to him,
“How can you be so happy,
When things are so grim?”

The boy had one week
The doctor said today
“I can’t do anything.
All we can do is pray”

“It’s simple,” said the boy
In a very relaxed tone
“With you I’m not sad.
With you, I’m at home.”

The girl smiles a little
With tears in her eyes.
The night is very late,
And he says, “Time flies.”

He drives her home.
They kiss goodnight.
She watches him go,
‘Til he is out of sight.

At home the boy thinks
About the life he had.
He thinks of the girl,
And falls asleep glad.
