let is go and you will be free

a message in a bottle

is my scream and my choke

a message in a bottle

is my suicidal note

the green and glittering bottle

thrown out to sea

that transparent shell of reason

held the ugly pieces of me

i felt great,

I felt cleansed

I felt like the girl,

I had always been,

but not the one drowning

in a sea of digust

not the one who was afraid

of being herself

but the one with the mind

that could roll with the blows

shoulder the hatred

and carry it home

a stronger person

who had shed their cries

a person in armor

armor, not disguise.

a woman of honor,

with shoulders held high

not a bottle afloat,

in a sea made of lies.
