Listen

Listen,

Can you hear it?

I can,

I know I can.

But do you hear it?

Is it the beat of your own heart

that your mind dances to,

or is the world crying your name,

that you hear behind all the noise

Hush and listen

Can you hear the trees

telling you secrets from beneath the earth,

from thousands of fingers buried in black love,

They tell stories of tomorrow,

while hauntings of yesterday clutter your dreams

They breathe in death,

just so you can breathe in life,

They shelter you against the world,

while you tear them down.

Sh,

says the wind,

as it plays with your hair,

pulling and twirling

while it whistles and howls for you to stay.

It can kiss your skin tenderly,

with its warming touch.

It can control your actions,

as hidden hands take hold of your body.

The moon can sing you a lullaby,

the stars can dance in the sky,

and shooting stars see your dreams,

They see the important ones,

They see your needs over your wants,

Do you hear it,

do you hear them,

the trees

the wind

the moon and sky,

can you hear them call to you in the dead of night,

I do,

they call me to slumber and they call me to dream,

to dream of distant places

of distance tomorrows

of a distant love

Listen,

To the trees,

They will free you

Listen,

To the wind,

It will heal you

Listen,

To the moon

She will sing you a lullaby,

so that you may dream of a world not your own.
