Memories of Better World

I remember searching the old house right across from yours

Buying Dr. Pepper at the corner store

And that one time we went camping by the lake

You remember that park with all the clovers?

There was a fence you had to climb over.

Yeah those were some pretty good times

But now we’re getting older

And the world’s a bit colder

Innocence is slowly slipping away

Life is harder now

The violence really gets me down

So now can’t you see?

Why I’m clinging to these memories

I remember going down to Reb’s

me and my dad and a few of our friends.

The pancakes there are the best in the whole wide world.

I haven’t been back in there for some time

But when I walk past and hear the doorbell chime

A nostalgic smile spreads across my face

But now I’m getting’ older

And the world’s a bit colder

Innocence is slowly slipping away

 Life is harder now

The violence really gets me down

So now can’t you see?

Why I’m clinging to these memories

I’m keeping all these memories to get my through the day

Life was getting harder so I had to find a way

But now we’re getting older

And the world’s a bit colder

Innocence is slowly slipping away

 Life is harder now

The violence really gets me down

So now can’t you see?
