I'm from another era and a different time.
I'm from a porch of an old house with a steep front step and a dog-trot hall,
Where camellias grow proud and strong in the garden of my family's house.
I am from having my own opinions and making do with the world in my own way.
From a place where independence was all I seemed to want.
Where this addiction controls my body, but NOT my heart.
I am from finding the gift I chose to give myself, to go in peace and in freedom;
For in the end, I will be "living free and beholden to nothing and nobody."
