My soul speaks

A heart in silence and at peace seeks rest,
Its mind so calm and collected, yet its head the best
In a deep sleep, my spirit reaches heights never before
It's not fear of free fall, but that of ignorance
I mean fear of what I don't know
Please God's mercy save my soul
In truth and in spirit, my God I seek you
Persecution and grief are consuming my cool
While destitution and disease are wiping out my kind
This evil is killing me; I feel it on my mind

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
