No One Deserves This

Worthless, confused, disgraceful;

No one deserves these labels.

Beaten, abused, left alone;

This isn’t how we should be known.

I’m gay and I’m hurt;

She’s bi and she’s neglected.

Our parents don’t understand

How we’re being affected

By their words; they lie

And make us feel like trash

And push and shove

And scar us with a lash.

Someone, help while I bleed

And cry out and plead

With my brothers and sisters

And non-binary resistors.

Scared and in pain,

Threatened by society,

Some of us struggle

With maintaining sobriety.

Reach out, friends and families.

Be strong, be courageous, be yourself.

Mourn those you lost,

But never forget to stand up for those you haven’t.

No one deserves this.

No one should earn this.

We’re humans, just like you,

So why can’t we be treated like that, too?

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
