no one ever taught me how to juggle

cheer clap stomp on all sides of me

faces pull apart into wide grins whispers

and laughs screams desperate wishes for silence

again in this arena of sand under cold neon

lights with the generator thump thump

thumping behind the old rainbow curtain but now its

spinning in circles throwing more and more balls higher

and higher in the air until im flying up there

with them but catch toss spin catch

toss spin forget the people and screams and

just as quickly remember that day but no one ever

taught me how to throw with my hands too slow and

red balls make echoes thump thump

thumps in sand and gasps in every direction

green balls roll to the elephants feet

i look up to the sky pray to just stop

no borax no glue but the purple balls collide

crash to the floor and im standing alone in

the sand under the cold neon lights thump thump

thumping and the old rainbow curtain catches

my crumpled form as tears stream and

i stare into empty stands and its all my fault
