Paying taxes
Luke 17:10 New English Translation (NET Bible)
10 So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, ‘We are slaves undeserving of special praise; we have only done what was our duty.’”
Paying taxes
Always the unexpected happens
Although I knew it was coming
Bills flying out of some hidden place
Called buried in my “forgetful” mind
How could I forget the yearly routine?
The specific time I would be summoned
Month after month, an unfinished rhyme
After many years of “unexpected” bills to find
Insurance and taxes floating to the surface
Slowly but surely, to cast a tightening web
With the final insight of the year’s ending
To press the sense of freedom to its very core
It appears that every time that years go by
It overtakes me more sudden like a menace
And gives me the realization of a long-lost cause
That merciless slaps and kicks me to the floor
