To me, poetry means expression of self,

It means crying at three in the morning

And at noon.

It means laughing with friends

And at yourself .

To me, poetry means love and loss,

It's that feeling when your dog dies,

That feeling when you can't fix anything.

It's your first love,

Your first heartbreak,

And your wedding day.

To me, poetry means love and power and hope and most of all passion.

Poetry means education for the helpless, 

It means love for those who have lost it all.

It gives us hope, passion, and strength.

That is what poetry means to me.
