Proud

Dear So and So,

A traditional letter starts with "Dear So and So".

A traditional poem starts with "roses are red, violets are blue", but I won't start this that way.

I want to start with "I'm proud of you!"

You have come so far and you still continue to thrive.

I am proud, because each day you carried yourself through with a heavy heart, mind and soul.

Everyday something was thrown at you - every injury you suffered, every word piercing your body.

But you survived and because of this, I am proud.

The countless amounts of people leaving you behind, pulling you down, surrounding you in a storm of negativity...

You were determined, you were persistent, you became someone I see and admire today.

I am proud.  I am proud of you.  I am proud of myself.

Dear Self,

The roses may be red and the violets my be blue, but don't let anyone or anything define you.

Dear Self,

You have no definition, you will never be perfect and everyone will not always like you.

So roses are red, violets are blue, you have realized this now and that's why I am proud of you.

Forever and always,

Someone who will always see the best in myself -

Jazmyn Symone Williams (a name with no definition and no explanation needed)
