Restarted Heart

Restarted heart.

Mom, I made a poem in school today.

It went something like, “I’m going to get up and find a way”.

Please don’t shut me out mom, my voice is reaching out for you.

It went something like, “I will keep going, even if your love inflicts in black and blue”.

I’m sorry mom I’m finishing up, I-I swear I’m almost done.

I-it went something like... “I’m afraid of the person I will become”

Mom, please don’t shout at me again, my body is growing numb.

I’m trembling mom, please mom, don’t-

Caroline is at the door mom, it is time for me to go.

I don’t want to come home tonight mom, my mind must return to the only home I know.

Caroline, I made a poem in school today.

I am going to get up and find a way.

I know that you will help me, in your arms is where I will stay.

You cannot fix my broken bones but I love you for mending my heart.

Caroline, you are my light, hopefully my soul can restart.
