Sand in an Hourglass

She felt the pressure

Of a world being taken from her

Everything she knew

Was disappearing

And the end was getting closer

Soon she would have nothing

And all she held dear

Would slip through fingers that held on too tightly

She knew

That it was time to let go

But her heart wasn’t ready

Nor was it acting rationally

So as the clock ticked down

Quicker than sand in an hourglass

She fell and never got up
