She Still Loves You

Tears well in her eyes as you hit her once more.

She doesn't understand, can't quite comprehend.

What did she do to arouse such anger?

Was it when she barked at that stranger?

She lives to love you, to protect you, to be part of your life.

You punish her daily and, though she cries, she loves you still.

Animals know only love until you teach them to fear.

What would you do if someone beat you?

Could you have the same strength?

Could you continue to love?
