Sheep amongst the wolves
Matthew 10:16
Persecutions Are Coming
16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Where do sheep gather most … is it in the church?
Who guards and feeds them daily … is it not the Priest?
He supplies the daily sacrifice and delivers from the curse?
To supply peace and serenity … to the ones in need
Dreams’ visiting in the night, as the unexpected appears
Are they messages of sub-consciousness or just a chosen lot?
Here to be understood and lived because all are so familiar
Are there accidents in life or is there a prepared plot?
Are not wolves preying on the weak and ready to kill?
Are they not travelling in packs and seldom caught alone?
Is not the battle of the sheep a constant struggle uphill?
And is not the Shepard their shield and their fate forgone?
Are not the fallen and the wounded observed by vultures?
Are not the helpless and in need the most vulnerable?
Are not traditions in the church formed into a culture?
That self-sufficiency rules the day and all things are possible
It is the world of religion not the most cruel?
Is not here decided the worth of each person alive?
Is not judgmentally that provides all the fuel?
To keep hatred’s constant flow undergirded by strife
For God’s sake we are hated as for His Son we stand
Give and take is no issue in service to all we meet
Love for all supplied … as a simple God’s demand
As dying to self and feelings becomes a simple deed
We are told to flee when persecution hits us
But there’s only one place to go and that’s to Him
The Creator of it all: the good, the bad, the ugly
Through His dimensional Will as a reflection of the grim
A field of sorrow plowed in despair’s syndrome
Who knows all the reasons for them that suffer?
There always is tomorrow, a mysterious honeycomb
and prayer in the morning is today’s only buffer
Hour after hour Eternity exposes a little more
Amazingly little positive to them lost in sin
Part of it all unseen through a closed door
That only cracks for a few residing just in Him
Later in the day we’re being prepared for the next
Sleep will beset each of us to be renewed again
One step forward and two steps back, what the heck?
As long as we get again to the place where we’ve been
