Silent Success

“It important to show respect to others and listen,”

Our parents have always chastised,

But, by the poisonous lies I was told, I was bitten.

Happily ignorant, I absorbed others’ words,

Eager for knowledge and expression.

“It is important to show respect to others and listen”.

But from this time on, the line was blurred-

Thrones broken by a new line of succession.

But, by the poisonous lies I was told, I was bitten.

I never healed from my wounds and was deterred,

From ink and parchment, finally admitting cession.

“It is important to show respect to others and listen.”

Yet from my overturned inkwell spilled a familiar overword,

“Aspire and yearn”. I was once again joined by a companion, Progression,

but, by the poisonous lies I was told, I was bitten.

Little did they know, I had found the antidote, of which was unheard.

I had succeeded in the acts of conquest and succession.

“It is important to show respect to others and listen,”

but the poisonous lies I was told, I had finally beaten.
