This Soul

Strong are these feet

which carry this body,

ridden with fears, and guilt, and sorrow,

through the Red Sea that tries

to vanquish this light.

This heart, and this will,

is what splits that Red Sea so that this soul

may flow freely to escape the chains

that bound it to self hatred.

Every morning these feet deliver this soul

out of a tempting, dark and lonely room

out into the bright, angelic glow of a world

that has tried and failed to hold it back.

But each day reminds me that

there is a world out there

and i am in it

and i am not going to trap this magnificent soul

today.
