Speak Up

America is,

Land of the free,

Home of the brave.

Speak up America!

Break down the cultural barriers that have held us so long,

Embrace your brothers and sisters.

Although they may have light or dark skin,

We are all one people under God.

Our salute to the Land of Dreams

Makes us united, indivisble.

Once it was obscene to consider abolishing slavery,

Or being less racially discriminant

But figures have risen.

Martin Luther King preached the DREAM,

But only we can help people live it.

What is a country without voices?

How will we proclaim superiority,

When we can't even agree to our Constitution,

That all men are created equal?

Love your neighbor,

For we are not defined by our color.

With black and white,

There is always the area between

That connects us.

We should not ignorantly live life

When an African-American isn't allowed a job,

Or when a Black man can hardly support his own family.

A land one should be proud to live in,

Should not be prejudiced.

So, make America the land

Where DREAMs will become reality.

And speak up!
