I want someone to say it’s okay

Okay to believe

Believe in the thing

And believe in the one

The one that’s supposed to

Bring me to a promised land

A land that promises a freedom from sin

But the one says that the thing is a sin

A sin which people need to repent

I don’t believe the thing is a sin

Because it is a beautiful thing that no one should have to repent

No one should have to repent who they are

Because it’s not a choice

 

It is a choice to believe in the one

The one who’s supposed to love unconditionally

The one who is supposed to take everyone as they come

So do I have to choose?

Either believe in the thing or believe in the one?

Do I have to choose?

Choose which one is “right”?

Choose which one is “wrong”?

Choose between two forms of love?

Choose between two forms of hope?

Choose between two forms of unity?

Why can’t it be that the two of them are in unity?

In unity with each other

So that those who believe in the one

Can also unite with those who believe in the thing

The thing that can bring us all closer together

All we need to hear is that it’s okay to believe.
