Time

Location

With each passing moon, I'm reminded of something

I'm scared

No, not of anyone, not anything, but time

Time dictates how easy it is to live and be happy here

The chances are slim

Dreams are dim

Money is blinding and manipulative

People are forgetting the concept of love

And they spit in the face of art and difference

In this era of "improvement"

White still clashes with black

Men still tower over women

And the world is too big to help someone so small

College is not a choice, it's a requirement

If you want to live after paying rent

Time has always been evil

Time takes what it can

Increases the value in green

DECREASES the value in green

For what?

I don't want to spend my days worrying about paper

I want to see the seas and keep creating

Play the games and chase a boy

Get excited for a TV show and a cup of honey tea

Yet in the world my parents have left me in

It is my duty to stress over not surviving

The winters may be harsh

The heat may be brutal

I may have some nights where I want to cry

Break down

Even fancy the idea of leaving this wasteland

Forever

But in the end, all I truly wish is to be happy

Until I wither
