the tree (freewrite)

The tree jumped from San Francisco
and landed in a lover's arms
I could see the weight of it crushing his bones.

The branches turned into the arms of other women
that wrapped their hands around him,
he held onto a few as they shook him around.
It was only then I realized he was the one for me
and there could never be another.

As the tree shook about, it threw him towards me.
He was glowing from the breeze that touched his cheeks.
I looked at my own reflection in his eyes
and saw that they had the reflection of the stars above on them.

"I am brave, I am brave, I am brave."
I whispered in his ear.
