We Are The Flappers

Ten years ago, just a glimpse of stocking,
Would be a sight just oh so shocking.
Just the sight of elbow would cause a stir,
In the older generation in which concur.
But the time of this belief was long ago,
and now our ankles and wrists do show.
We are the maidens whose knees are set free,
Who are mocked by those who don't agree.
Who talk with a cigarette pressed between our lips,
And dance with dresses that hugged our hips.
To the older generation we are labeled as trash,
But we are the modern day woman with class.
We are flappers and we don't conceal.
We are women and we are real.
