So its as plain as the night
That I’s black and he’s white
That I work as he reaps
That I plough and I weep
While he sleeps
Sleeps it away

When he’s sad and depressed
I rejoice with a sigh
To know that he may, suffer as I
But its wrong
Cuz I know whats wrong
But we move along

When he’s angry and mad
Its our god’s day off
We suffer the lash
And in sighs he dismounts
like a fool
He thinks he’s god
And we go along

Its not like we can do nothing’
We stop and dance
We cheer and sing
We destroy the buds and smoke the weed
While they says we dumb
We sit and read
We learn to write
We learn as we please
And you know why?

Its to be a whole new me..

They says we low
So we raise up higher
They says we dumb
So we strive to be smarter
They says we ain’t good
Cuz our skin is black
But our blood is red

Unlike the blue blooded fools
Who sit out in the night
Livin’ the life of power and might
I can say
That they move on
But that’s not in this song

They don’t live life
Like lords and kings
They have little respect from their subjects and knaves
But I live a life
Far richer then theirs
With music and dancin’
Each night on the farm
And I’m livin’ life
As I move along
