We Know

What is most important is not that you open the door to every building that we enter, nor is it that you drop all that you’re doing to answer my phone call. Though both of those actions are both greatly appreciated they are not a determining factor in which I know that our relationship is stronger than steel. The only way you truly love me is by simply loving all of me and respecting every version of me. Our relationship can only flourish through time with communication, respect, and trust.

Without respect there is no way to feel equal, instead, a dark cloud covers us both raining drops of water that fill a pool of belittlement.

I’ll know that you love me when I wake up in a mood that may not be my best but you enjoy the sight of my face just the same.

I know that you love me when I take my makeup off and I still feel pretty because you don’t look at me any differently.

You allow me to be no one else but me and that is what is most important to me.

It is the way that we equally honor our relationship and one another that helps it continue to flourish.

Each day the respect for one another is stronger than the last day as we continue to grow. We know that love and respect is the base of all lasting relationships or else it is only a ticking time bomb.

We know that communication is key in order for us to work through each bump in the road.

We know that trust is needed.

We know that we are still our own person and may have our own views and yet admire our differences and individuality.

I know this because I love you.
