What ever happened to the music that
steady beat we'd get from beneath our feet
thats urge to close our eyes and move our heads up
and down... just cuz it sounded right, that underground
freestyle rapper to the charts of prominence when the
first three number one singles truly saved people
those distinctive rhymes following the baseline the
words that brought the outcome of the past
tense cities that was suppose to be the beggining of
a new era when they had only written on their papers
to make the words fit when they never scrbbled out the
REAL SHIT when rap was only preached and verses began to
teach...and whatever happened to the music i'd listen too during
those early summer mornings and late summer nights for as
kid we didn't need bedtime stories we just fell asleep to the
music across the street still recording music videos off of
mtv where speaches like from notorious BIG "it was all a dream"
was suppose to be in history books and quoting him like like
we can't change the world unless we change ourselves,
when books and scriptures made sure they publishded every
single letter, word, sentence and period of poetry 2pac lived
by "and tomorrow" he wrote "I wake with second wind and strong
because of pride i know I fought with all my heart to keep the dream alive"... and
then he suggested changes when Eazy E gave us pure stories of how the hood
lives to save us of what can become of it when they spoke from their true hearts
and minds and their was at least one person who told us love is blind and
we just gotta know these things becasue unlike most songs
now a days love doesn't always work out fine. Where their was
always a song we liked everytime we stopped and went at red
and green lights, and whatever happened to the lonely ghettos that
became their only inspiration to tell us on stage where they
didn't need much to speak in matter of fact all they needed were
some tounge twisters that rolled over their lips to spit like we
were in the year of 1996 so FUCK the politics its time for music to
speak for itself cuz now a days all you get is BULLSHIT you got the
music clubs of designing drugs following their curse of toxic words thats gotten us
to hear the music but not the messages behind the music "it's the way their giving
knowlege slow with thought control and subtle hints" and already world wide
records through the hard times have gave the younger generation the brain washed inspiration influencing them on things like to smoke and drink instead of telling us to really
put our minds to the test and think and so universally speaking good music is what i'm
seeking cuz all these new style of rappers are letting us in breaking us within telling us
money is all we need and then they go and FUCK up the music industry...and so
what ever happened to the music? like those slow vibe slow tunes we'd listen to
on a sunday afternoon where their wasn't always somethin going on but
nothin from that cool sensational breeze
shit even the birds were bumpin that old hip hop, rap, rock, and oldie style
we'd listen to everytime we'd pack up our bags and left for those long
long miles to california, from fresno to the san Fransico bay all the way to L.A the
music that makes me the person i am...today.
