Where is My Home?

Where is my home, the place where I was free?

Where all I knew was games, and laughs, and joy.

Where golden rice was swaying with the breeze;

A paddy-playground for each girl and boy.

With each sunrise, the fishing boats return

Like soldiers coming home after a war,

Completely loaded down from bow to stern

With trophies from the sea; no room for more.

The barking dogs alarm the town awake.

And all the village rushes out to greet

The tired fishermen, and help to take

The nets loaded with fish. Now we can eat!

These memories make me want to return

To see again this place for which I yearn.
