Who will change this selfish society? The 20th century world; where no one wants to listen. Do people not see the pain in others' eyes? The slouched walks and cracked smiles? What happened to looking out for one another? Communication is key they say, but with everyone talking and no one listening, what does this convey? Who will change this selfish society? Personal goals and material gain are all that are on minds. A society where fitting in is how you are judged, where looks determine character. No one wants a deep connection because tv, radio, and society love only aesthetic perfection. Is this love? Ignoring pain, selfish gain and pushing aside the remains? Who will change this selfish society? When our young black men have no role models and society does nothing but judge and oppress, where do they go? Who do they talk to? Where do they go for advice or comfort? Bottled up emotion and confusion lead to drastic actions, making bad decisions when all that's needed is someone who cares... So the hurt continues and generational curses endure. Who will change this selfish society? A society where God is missing, where people hype up shallow aspects of life, where empty souls remain along with an empty room. He who said:'...let us not love in word or talk, but in deed and truth' This cannot be love. Love is not selfishness, judgement, neglect and rejection. Who will change this selfish society? Thank God I have someone to talk to. I have too felt a heavy heart and prickly eyes with a weary body when I felt alone and muted by everyone elses desires, no one caring to hear my own, so therefore I want to be a listening ear. I want to be a loving heart, and I want to be opening arms in this mannequin-stiff society. Who will change this selfish society? I will change this selfish society.
