Wishing Like a Star

Location

A million light years away from anything

Molecules swirl in a vacuum

Colliding and spinning

Aimless

But something happens

The particles gather

Condense into a ball

And begin to shine

At first, the atoms struggle

To stick together

They move in different directions

And contradict each other

Eventually, unity prevails

Gravity holds them in cohesion

And for millions of years

They provide a constant, life-giving light

Time races on

The star begins to glow brighter still

It grows and then in a final blast

Supernovas

But that is not the end

The star leaves a mark

Forever changes

The universe

Molecules float about

Are pulled in by the dust cloud

Condense and illuminate

Brought to life by the remnants of the old

Given a purpose

By the path of the past
