Worthy

They told us that we were different

And this difference justified who we were

They were so right

For I am different

Separate from the common people

Separate from being

The norm of my generation

For I am different

I am not the tallest

I am not the smartest

I am not the best at being a liar

I am different

And that should be admired

For they told me I was overweight

They told me I wasn't skinny enough

They told me I was too far high on the scale

To be considered for this job

To be considered for this role

To be considered for this person

Because I am considered to be different

But they could not understand

This overweight soul

Who was there to offer words of advice?

Who was there to give you peace and insight?

Who offered their time and being?

Who offered thoughts of truth and honesty?

Who did but this one?

Who did?

For my overweight body is worthy.

It is not to be looked down upon.

For my persistence in being me has payed off.

I give warmth of physical and emotional kind.

For I am overweight in body and soul.

Because I am different

Because I am worthy

And that is what should be looked at if I am looked at

At all.
