Yet We Still Sin
I'm the beginning, God created the American
A country founded on the basis of Christianity and land
Settlers escaping an evil king who pales in comparison
To the evil world that our current generation brings
Basking in the corruption we have built
Stricken on land, money, power, drugs, lust
And for it men who lack any type of guilt
We claim we love God, I mean this is America, the country God has truly blessed
The country of Christ-devoted men
Where Christianity is a symbol of our gratitude for how far we've been
Yet we still sin
To get a little deeper
Over 74% of America believes in a God-like creature
One who raises the sun up with His left hand and down with His right
One who spoke a few words and distinguished the darkness from the light
A majority of America believes that someone aligned each star
Individually into their set constellation, some near and some far
Yet we still idolize money, houses, and cars
We worship consumerism, placing everything above Him
Yet we say we wanna do right in the end
But yet we still sin
How far have we've come? How far will we go?
Will we get to a point where we begin to tell God no?
"Give me your heart, mind, and soul
And believe in my Son and make Me your goal"
And we'll ll say "Sorry God you see
I just got my head up in the clouds and in weed
Instead of reading your Word, I got side tracked and started reading memes
There's more important stuff to take care of and your just not one
I still love you but this relationship is done"
And then we'll end up passing away
After living a life that was lost
our family members mourning us
saying we made up there with Jesus and His cross
When in reality that isn't how it ends
We get scared when we find out Heaven doesn't welcome all men
We wanna say we love Jesus yes He is our friend
But at the end of the day....
...We still sin.
