YOBO (You Only Bark Once)

Location

I could tell you a tale of a dog I know,

but the story of penny is like poem that can never be finish.

Just like her role in my life can never be filled and the depths of her service can never truly be expressed in words…

but I will try.

The first time she learned the command “sit” was the proudest moment of a 16 year old’s existence.

Imagine,

One species communicating to another species and the outcome is an action.

Who’s the master? I am, I thought, for preparing an animal for such an important role in another being’s life.

I watch her work; I’m part of that work.

I succeed when she succeeds.

I take her to work, take her to school

I make sure she’s safe at night.

Who is the master?

I open her doors and scratch her back.  I pick up after her.

She is nothing without me.

But watching a dog learn to serve is like watching children learn to succeed.

And it dawns on me the day I will have to give her up.

Who will be the master? The owner or me?

The answer is she.

She will watch you work; She will be a part of that work.

She succeeds when you succeed.

She will take you to work; she will take you to school.
She will make sure you’re safe at night.

She will open your doors and will scratch your back. She’ll pick up after you.

You are nothing without her.

Imagine

One species communicating to another and the outcome is

An action.
