Each time I wake up, I'm surprised to see the light

For the color I feel inside myself suggests that it is night

Yet my head is held high when I am in a crowd,

Hoping no one can tell that I am not really proud

Hoping no one can see the tears on my face

Wishing I could vanish, leaving nothing to trace

Picturing a place inside my head

Where no one can go, and I leave this all behind.

All the sadness, all the pain

All the lies I tell in vain

All the tears I feel inside

All the things I try to hide

Every promise broken, every step taken

Enhanced by sorrows that I have awakened

When I'm sad I look at the sky

Find a star that will grant a wish if I try

To believe in good when anger is all I see

A wish for me to be with you and for you

To wish to be with me
