Appreciation of One's Self

There once was a boy

Who was quite short

He wasn’t tall enough

To play any sport

His classmates all laughed

Never gave him a chance

Didn’t talk or smile

Not even a glance

His dream was to be

Doubled in size

Or maybe even taller

So all were like flies

That night he prayed

His dream would be real

To be so tall

His peers would all squeal

When he awoke

The very next morning

He stood up and broke

The ceiling without warning

He was ecstatic

To be so tall

The boy didn’t realize

It might be his downfall

When he left for school

The bus was too small

The only way on

The bus was to crawl

The kids all laughed

They called him names

He wanted to go back

Tired of these games

All of the sudden

To the boy’s delight

His alarm clock sounded

And everything was alright.
