batter up!

batters up!

child getting a fastball to the eye,

but not by a baseball, but by a fist

child gets a bruise shoulder, but not from sliding,

but by a forceful push

child gets a scratch on the back,

but not by a great catch to take a home run away, but by a person's sharp nails

child gets a nose bleed not from catching a foul ball to the stands,

but by a back hand

child fractures hand not by slapping fives with teammates,

but by getting hit with a weapon

child self-esteem is low not going 0-4

but by making fun of him because he is poor

you might be thinking i'm talking about baseball,

but in all essence,

child is driving in lots of R.B.I's- Real Bad Injuries

The Essence of Poetry
This is a very angry poem. I felt each word. I love the style you wrote it in. It really conveys a clear image of what life a child should be living, yet he/she has to live one of abuse. Which adds to the mood of anger.
