That Boy

That boy who tried to befriend you

But found it's better not to try

That  boy who didn't have his own crew

And did his best not to cry

That boy who could never figure out

Why it was he who was so strange

That boy who's anger made him shout

For whom salvation was out of range

That boy who tried to change his looks

So that he may be normal at last

That boy used by thieving crooks

Who's emotional walls were thrashed

That boy who never caught a break

Nothing but insults did he hear

That boy so angry he would shake

As he tried not to shed a tear

That boy who was the punch line of the joke

Who no one wanted to see

That boy who had been broke

That boy was me
