Bridges

I am the architect

Of my own life,

But what would life be,

Without some strife?

I build bridges,

Day in and day out,

But I choose to whisper,

Instead of to shout.

I am proud of these bridges,

But some would disagree,

That I do not deserve them,

For they are a luxury.

So long it took,

To keep them off the ground,

Why do you insist,

On burning my bridges down?
