Bruises Left Unseen

Black, Blue, Purple, Red Are they really gone? Can I run away now? Is it safe? Black, Blue, Purple, Red I look down at the ground And I gag at the puddle of blood beside me The puddle of MY blood Black, Blue, Purple, Red I finally got away They didn't follow me this time I'm home But no one notices the blood stains on my clothes Black, Blue, Purple, Red I look at myself in the mirror And I find myself asking the same stupid question over and over "Why me?" "Why me?" "Why me?" "Why me?!" I see all of the bruises, and cuts, and cover them No one would notice anyway... Black, Blue, Purple, Red My bruises will all go away My cuts will all heal And my scars will all fade away They always have But will I really be okay? Black. Blue. Purple. Red. The only colors in my otherwise colorless world Black- Blue- Purple- Red- I'm at school and they found me Black. Blue. Purple. Red. I'm laying on the floor, trying to ignore the searing pain Black! Blue! Purple! Red! They left me in a crumpled ball, bleeding badly No one noticed Black, Blue, Purple, Red, That's it! I'm done! I can't take it anymore! I raise the gun to my forehead.... Black, Blue, Purple, Red. Black, Blue, Purple, Red. I chant the colors in my head Black, I feel his hand touch my shoulder, Blue, His hand relaxes my arm and takes the gun away, Purple, His arms hug me Red, And my friend tells me that he will help me So, I listen to him And, finally, someone can see the bruises See the cuts and the scars and the blood Finally, someone understands and can HELP me FINALLY I will be alright.

Thank you. I wrote it based on my friend who went through a similar ordeal.
