Caged Bird

Location

I know why the caged bird sings

To be let free to flap her wings

But she knows one day this will be

So she lets her beautiful voice come through so free

I know why the caged bird hums

Realizing nobody may ever come

To let her run wild

Fading away her smile

I know why the caged bird moans

Wishing for a friend she can phone

Feeling like a lost little puppy

How did she end up so unlucky?

I know why the caged bird cries

All she really wants to do is fly

To flap her wings to and fro’

Who would she go to though?

I know why the caged bird passed

All her life she was an outcast

Suffocating from loneliness

Her heart stopped from the coldness
