Cannot Erase
Took me down to the river so I would drown,
Lent me your matches so I would light myself aflame,
Pushed me in a ditch and tried to bury me in hopes I’d suffocate,
Slipped some cyanide into my favorite drink so I’d poison myself.
You forgot I can swim,
Forgot I never light matches,
Forgot I always get up when I fall,
Forgot that after all that, I’d never take anything from you again.
Desperately trying to tear me away from the life I need for the life you want.
