The Child

Running, running as swiftly as I can.

I can feel the shadow against my feet,

Frightened of falling in.

Running, running from the shadow behind me,

not wanting to be caught

They see me and taunt me.

They threaten my confidence.

They laugh harder when they see me cry.

I cry out "God please save me!"

I see nothing.

Where are you? Why dont you help me?

I am trapped in the covers that wipe my tears.

I sleep, I sleep in hopes of a better beginning.

I see him, my friend.

He promised to always be there, but why does he ignore me?

He sees me but looks away,

he hears me call his name, but only glances.

My heart is lost, and trust has gone with it.
