Common Challenge
Higher and higher the voices rise
down at the girl who thought she had nothing to hide.
Day by day, year by year,
no one thought of her shedding tears.
They roared, moaned, rattled and shaked,
until her life dreams began to break.
Crying, with tears in her eyes,
she hoped they would vanish, the clouds in her sky.
One day, she rose and cried,
"You will not own me, not while I'm alive."
Instead of falling like so many did
she conquered them all without a hit.
There were bruises, burns and scars
but now she was her own shimmering star.
She danced, she sang without a care.
She was not longer held by the people who scare.
