Confession of A Catholic Priest

I’ve looked on women with an appraising eye Filled with lust, Imagining her smooth skin, Up against mine. In a moment of rage I used your name in vain. No gods before you, And yet I’ve upheld the gods of vice And vile. Filling myself with pies and sweets, I engorge myself with delicious things. Every Friday into a piece of beef My teeth do sink. Drinking the Blood of Christ, A sweet nectar I indulge, Past the point of merry. In a drunken rage I shout and Curse. I thought I knew, But I may doubt. I’ve been tormented, Worse than Job. This collar upon my neck, Stained by sin, I do commit.
