"Do You Really Know Me?"
“Do You Really Know Me?”
I love it when people think they know me!!!, at least from what Social Media and rumors are telling me
I’m happy, outgoing and balanced
You really think I wake up every morning with a smile on my face!
Actually my bad my bad, I didn’t mean to sound so upset
But I’m getting tired of assumptions, people taking me for granted,
I feel like I’m the only one fighting to survive upon the system, that keeps corrupting my life on both ends
Yeah I’m human but my skin color shouldn’t clarify that to want to feel united
But People Think They Know Me!!!, from the piece of paper that we call a record for you to analyze my past for me
Indigenous brilliance is what Poetic justice had taught me
You are brown and gifted
Black and beautiful
White with privileges from what Brock Turner is demonstrating in this society
Don’t be afraid my mother told me, as she left at 2 am to show how a broken dream, can affect a minority with true passion, on wanting to change the negative environment, that was meant to cut, leaving scars all over my body, to entertain those who think this isn’t reality
but with all this rage and anxiety I held nothing so I expressed what I felt for others to listen, to come to a realization that it’s ok to be afraid, it’s ok to feel alone, it’s ok to try to feel happy after all the things you had been through even tho
People Think they Know You!, Don’t let someone’s words kill you don’t let drugs and money replace you, I can hear my heart beating but it’s the beat of fear that’s starting my destiny on what seems to be weak in the eyes of the oppressor but I let actions speak louder, for I can characterize your true colors, always being criticized in the nature of judgement so I learn from it grow out of it and never stop being myself because you are my cause and effect and best, believe me, I’m committed
So Do You Really Know Me?
