Fire

I stare into the lively, unkept hues of the flame

Which fire flare fiercely under my fingertips

Wood cackled crankily as it met it's death

A sound that scared the cowardly away

I step closer, trying to savor the comforting heat

Only to trip, feeling my cells melt in neverending agony

My flesh joined the lumber that fueled the flames

The revolting scent of my charred skin lingered over my final resting place.
