The Fire Underneath

You're the fire in the sleet.

The dire in the free.

The hope to the homeless,

and the smile to the sea.

You're the everlasting beat that I hear in my sleep.

The one that keeps me going even when others push defeat.

You're the fire in my veins,

that drives me close to insane.

The book in my hand,

that gets closer with every scan.

You're the reason why I write,

and the reason I burn oil every night.

The color in the sea,

The way I sing with every feat.

You're the light in my eyes,

how I overcome strife and lies.
