Fit In

We wear a mask

and run the race,

To shield the pain

and hide our face.

We bite our tongue

and laugh out loud,

To throw them off

and match the crowd.

We talk like them

and gain their rep,

To make them proud

and move a step.

We all cut up

and roll again,

To be accepted

and to fit in.

Jeanie_In_A_Bottle

I have been writing poetry since the end of seventh grade (7 years ago). My poem "Mother Earth" was entered into the A.R. Ammons Poetry Contest and was elected Honorable mention. After that, I went to a virtual workshop with the incredible Mrs. Jackie Shelton Greene, Poet Laureate of North Carolina, getting tips on my writing. I have written over 30 poems, some good, some bad, and some worse LOL. But, overall, poetry helps me to express myself and is just a beautiful way to deliver words.
