Freak
I was that kid
Sitting in the back of class
Never moving
Never speaking
I stayed away
They would always poke fun
And I tried to laugh
But laughing is hard when you
Hurt from the inside out
I was the outside child
The Freak
My peers were the epitome of
"perfection" or so they believed
And punished anyone who claimed otherwise
They had their fun with me
Mocking and prodding
And I had mine
Face-first into a pillow
They would try to bring out weakness
That I had refused to show
This house of knowledge
Supposed to protect its patrons
only looked me over and said
Life is harder than you think and
These cuts and bruises were nothing more than
boys being boys
never paying attention to the group
That would crowd me in the hall
Telling me that I'm nothing more than a waste of space
That maybe I should do the world a favor
and end it all
But I stood my ground
I gave up my chance for a childhood a long time ago
But there will always be times
When I faultier or buckle down
These victems, their voices crying out
Only to be muffled by the very people we thought we could trust
They would do nothing, only say that I was weak
And I could do nothing against it
I'm sorry I didnt go for the ball
That I'm tall and strong but never went for masculine things
But these four eyes could see you snickering
I could see it in every sneer or smirk
pointed in my direction
In every snot nosed kid whose ever told me no
Well here I am
Riding the train with
The ticket I wrote myself
With my own blood, sweat, and tears
And these ears that were too big for my face
Can hear your cries of distress as you
Burn yourself on a deep fryer
as you try to cook my lunch
I may be a freak
Some poor country boy that grew up on a farm
But not anymore
I have to thank you
For your part of shaping who I am
But not anymore
Now I write my own story
And star in my own freak show
