Growing Pains

I remember sunrises on horseback

Deer and cows at pasture

Gazing back at me without fear

I remember full moon dances

And singing in the rain

Spur of the moment photoshoots

And wild smiles imprinted in my brain

I remember when sunset was like honey

Painted across golden skin

I remember sunbathing was illicit

and akin to sin

I remember riding into windstorms

So the wind would brush my hair

I remember when tans were a good thing

Now I hate the marks left there

I remember fearless conversations with strangers

Desires and requests made known

When too much interaction was feared

Now I wonder if I’ll ever be home

I remember the magic in spring

When all things are born

Now its just a burden

 of another passing storm

I remember when it didn't matter what I wore

I miss those days

At my roots I’m torn
